On September 27, 2014, fellow Triple Knots blogger, Kristi, said “I do.” Kristi, in honor of you tying the knot, we dedicate this entry to you. We wanted to capture some of our favorite moments with you and say a big ‘thank you!’ for inviting us to be your co-maids of honor in your incredible wedding adventure!
XOXO, Mere and Bri
When Kristi asked both of us to be her co-maids of honor, we were over the moon! Not only did we know this would be an opportunity to flex our organizing muscles for various bridal events (Hello Google docs and Excel worksheets!), but also it would be a chance to honor one of our best friends. From the engagement party to the bridal shower, to the bachelorette weekend to “I do,” it’s been a very special experience! Below are a few select stories and pictures from the #KRANDIWEDDING adventure, and copies of our speeches from the bridal shower and wedding reception. Enjoy!
Our journey as co-maids of honor, began with the bridal shower. We chose a location that was near home – a restaurant with a garden setting and patio seating. We organized a late afternoon cocktail hour, with an assortment of tasty hors d’oeuvres and champagne. And for dessert, Kristi’s favorite…cupcakes! We planned for a small activity for the attendees: a date night jar!
Bridal Shower Toast – June 7, 2014
B: Thank you everyone for coming today to help us celebrate our dear friend Kristi. We are happy that family, old friends and new friends are able to gather together for such a wonderful occasion.
M: It’s a rarity to have friendships that last for as long as ours. Kristi, we’ve seen you grow into the strong, beautiful and confident woman you are today.
B: 15 years ago we were cheering you on at your basketball game court side… And in September, we’ll be cheering you on with the same amount of enthusiasm, but instead of Pom-Poms we’ll have bouquets as you walk down the aisle to Andy.
M: We’ve also been blessed over the past four years to watch your relationship with Andy grow from a friendship into husband and wife-to-be. We see the patience you have for one another, the adventurous spirit you bring out in each other and the love that binds you together.
B: Today is a celebration. We celebrate the love we have for you and the love you and Andy have for each other.
M: So let’s raise our glasses and say cheers to the future Mrs. Kristi Anderson Firmin. Cheers!
Then, came the Bachelorette Weekend – a weekend to remember! We wanted a getaway, but something relatively local, so we headed up to the wine country. We spent the weekend wine tasting, eating at the local restaurants, and showering Kristi with gifts for her honeymoon. It was a wonderful weekend filled with love and friendship for the bride-to-be.
On September 27, 2014, Kristi said goodbye to her life as a single girl and started her new adventure in marriage as the “Cavewoman” AKA Kristin Anderson Firmin. It has been incredible journey, and we feel so blessed to have been a part of it.
Wedding Speech – September 27, 2014
B: Our journey together began at Piedmont High. It’s never easy to be the new kid in a town as small as Piedmont.
M: So when Kristi arrived at the high school and sat down in Orchestra class, we became instant friends. Not because we had grand plans to be in the San Francisco symphony, but because it ensured we’d have our first period Orchestra class together so we could ditch and go to Starbucks!
B: Our friendship blossomed through the years and over time we did learn something special about Kristi that we absolutely adore and we must share with you…
M: Yes! One of our favorite things about Kristi is that she often gives nicknames to people. We think she gets it from her father Steve, who refers to her as “Kikers,” and, as an example, he and Kristi have been calling Brianna “Toaster Tot” for more than a decade. And when Andy entered her life, she began talking about him to us, but she didn’t call him by his name. No, instead he was known as ‘The Hair.’ And when we met him, it made perfect sense. Not only does Andy have great hair; he has an amazing personality to complement it.
B: Andy is one of the lucky ones who has gotten close enough to Kristi to earn a second nickname. Today, she has retired the name ‘The Hair,’ and now fondly refers to him as ‘The Caveman,’ due to his Paleo diet. But we’re not here to talk about his love of eggs, steak and bacon. Andy, you are one of the most loyal, patient and genuine people we’ve ever come across. We think you are one of the easiest people to be around. This calm quality that permeates your soul is also one of the great qualities that we believe makes you an excellent pair to Kristi’s spicy and fiery fun personality.
M: Mary Anne and Steve – you have been second parents to us for the past 16 years, and you have raised an incredible daughter. She is a true friend to us both. And, dearest Kristi – you are an incredibly loyal friend. The type of friend who provides honest advice in the most unconditionally supportive way. You’re always striving to make other people’s lives better and happier. You give so much to others, and we are so happy that you have a found a partner in Andy who, in turn, gives you just as much love and support.
B: There are many words that describe Kristi and Andy’s relationship. One of the words that stands out to us is ‘adventure.’ Together, we know this pair can climb any mountain, literally and figuratively. As you may know, just this year, they ascended Mt Whitney and Lassen Peak. And, today, as husband and wife, they begin their next big adventure: marriage. Kristi and Andy are a true team – they have brought their worlds together and they even have their own joint nickname for Kristi and Andy, it’s Krandi.
M: When we met in Kristi in High School, Bri and I were cheerleaders who had silly traditions, which included excessive hairspray and sparkles, and spirit cards. For those of you who don’t what that is – a spirit card is a piece of cardstock decorated for sports players to help them get ready for their next big game.
B: Kris, we know how much you’ve always wanted a Spirit Card. And, well, we’ve been waiting to give you your own because we knew it needed to be for a very special occasion. Lucky for you, today’s the day. In honor of the new team you’ve built, we’ve made a spirit card for Team Krandi. Kris and Andy, we’re looking forward to cheering and toasting you both on in your future adventures. We couldn’t be happier for you. Please everyone raise a glass and cheers to Team Krandi! Cheers!
What an adventure Kristi We have enjoyed celebrating each moment with you on your path to saying “I do” and thank you for inviting us to be your co-maids of honor!
